Are you aware that this is not a global tagging list?

The difficulty I see with this is establishing the correct value from 
allowable sources.

Given that these are, as you say, more associated with France and Italy, 
I think you should be looking to see if someone is already doing this 
for, say, Bordeaux, and adopting their name for it, even though it isn't 
British English.
