What are people's views on this suggestion?

I don't have a strong opinion on this. However, given that the CID often 
may be adding increased attribute data to an existing object already in 
OSM, I imagine that this could be construed as database clutter by some. It 
might be more useful for newly-added items, e.g. cycle parking, for 
instance.
