Hi Andy,
There is a tool that will make it easy to re-do https://josm.openstreetmap.de/wiki/Help/Plugin/HouseNumberTaggingTool
It should be a matter of finding the first house in the series, pressing 'k'; entering the correct number; setting the slider to "+2", then selecting each house in turn and hitting k, then enter, k, then enter, etc.
If all the houses are the same size and shape, it might be quicker to move them all "up" one position, and add a new one at the "bottom".
