The search box already recognizes latitude,longitude pairs, which also
won't appear in tags.

The short codes can be used in two ways. With the locality they are
global, but need the Google maps to be certain of finding the correct
locality, but they are also relative to the current location, so, for
navigating within a single city, I think they will normally be
unambiguous. They won't, I think, repeat at much less than 50km in the UK.
