I'd wondered about using
- tourism <https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:tourism>=information
<https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:tourism%3Dinformation>
- information <https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:information>=board
<https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:information%3Dboard>
- board_type=welcome_sign
for these, although the ones near me are big lumps of stone, so pushing the
meaning of board.
