[Talk-id] Palm Oil Plantations - orchard tagging and rendering

Hello,

I just created a new page on the wiki where I thought some folks might
be interested in collaborating on identification, tagging, and
rendering of orchards and land use typically encountered in Indonesia
(and around the world).

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Indonesia/Indonesia_Land_Use

I was just looking at all the Palm Oil plantations in South Java.
There's quite a bit of the coast visible in high resolution in that
area. I see a lot of plantations and I was happily tagging them with
the orchard tag:

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:landuse%3Dorchard

While doing this I was reading up on Palm Oil from Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palm_oil

I am unhappy that we don't have a render tile for a Palm Oil
plantation, and also that sawah land is so ugly when rendered as
landuse=farmland on OSM.org.

I would like to invite whoever is interested in such things to join in
the discussion of land use across Indonesia.

A special invitation to whomever on our list has design capabilities.
Can you render a tile for the orchard render for trees=palm so that
our Indonesian palm orchards look beautiful on osm.org?

For those with the wish, here are the specifications:

Suggestions for creating a new pattern

All the patterns are 24x24 px
The palm shape is about 9 px diameter centered : once at 6px,6px, once
at 18px, 18px (top-left : 0px, 0px)

Related to this discussion, who can tell me what kind of trees are seen here:

And here?

Perhaps we could take some screenshots of orchard types we recognize?
Place them in the wiki as a guide for others?
If we do that, then we would also have a list of other tiles to
produce so that our map of Indonesia is more rich with information
when viewed on OSM.org.

There is also a lot of different types of ...
water/aquaculture...water based agriculture? For example, what is
this?
