I second that, GNS in Ireland is a little bit like TIGER in the USA:
good to have at the time, but showing its poor quality today.

GNS data can correspond to different "modern" OSM data, from cities to
uninhabited localities. Whenever you can, you should improve the GNS
data by moving it into proper position, or even replacing it with the
corresponding townland or residential area if it matches (one
shouldn't have two osm objects for the same physical thing).

Concerning the tags, all the "gns:"-prefixed ones are either redundant
or useless, and can be deleted if you happen to be modifying the node.
Same goes for "created_by" (I think josm removes that one
automatically) and the note. Keep the source tag, but don't hesitate
to amend it if you used other sources this time around.
