The Maps for Making Change event is indeed interested in having an OSM session. Is anyone interested in leading this session in Ahmedabad in a couple weeks?

I really can't recommend enough getting involved with Tactical Tech, a great opportunity to connect to social/technical activists. Connections I've made through them are directly responsible for the success of our current project in Kenya.

If you're interested, let me know, and I'll connect you.

Tactical Tech in collaboration with the Centre for Internet Society (CIS) Bangalore is running a project called "Maps for Making Change".
This project involves social activists from all over India to learn and participate in a map-making process, ultimately to use 'maps' as a tool for communicating a social or an environmental cause.
We have already run an introductory workshop in Delhi on 3 December and our next workshop is planned for Ahmedabad at the National Institute of Design from 7 to 9 January 2009.
Our provisional programme is attached to this email for your information.

What we are after is your expertise and your time to run the session on "Open Street Maps for Activism". This session is intended to cover the step-by-step process of using Open Layers as well as showcasing how OSM is used to report and communicate human rights and environmental issues by advocates. The catch is we are asking all facilitators to offer their time and travel costs as pro bono. In return, CIS will cover for transfers within Ahmedabad and accommodation and all meals during the 3 day workshop.

I know this is a huge favour to ask at a such short notice!! Do let me know of your interest and if you need any further information. I am also attaching the original 'call for applications'. We have a total of 28 participants, working on diverse projects ranging from reporting of missing persons in Kashmir to mapping of slums in Mumbai.

Kind Regards,

Think BEFORE You Print: 1 ream of paper = 6% of a tree and 5.4kg CO2 in the atmosphere
3 sheets of A4 paper = 1 litre of water
