Hi Shastry,
1. You do have a good digitizeable background map on OSM.
2. May be you want more detail.. do it the OSM way and improve it.. to serve the OSM group to benefit others too.

If the above two points confuse..
1. Do you by any chance mean, hard copy map ??


Or for an advanced user..

2. May be you want a GIS vector layer ( a map in logical terms), with attribute information

Then
Digitise the line work on OSM --> Import the line work (OSM to your computer) --> Use any FOSS4G toll like Qgis, GvSig, OpenJUMP to make it a shape file, with attributes etc..

http://osm.org have map for Bangalore also, included in Map of world.

But not sure, it served your purpose or not? Write in detail about
your desire / requirement.
