The Indian Institute of Geographical Studies (TIIGS) is conducting a
first-of-its-kind event: the *National Geography Youth Summit - 2014
(NGYS-2014)*, 9-11 June 2014, at the Army Public School, K. Kamaraj Road,
Bangalore.

The theme of the Summit is

*Envisioning Geography Education for 21st Century India.*
We aim to bring together school teachers, students of class 9 and above,
and parents to do two important things:

   1. *Showcase and raise awareness* about the discipline of geography,
what geographers do, what careers are possible in geography, and why
geography education is important for the 21st century India.
   2. *Get inputs *in the form of ideas, concerns, and perceptions about
geography education's current status, what changes are needed to meet the
needs of our youth going into the future, and how to achieve those. We seek
these inputs from as many stakeholders as possible, including teachers,
students, parents, and others concerned with geography education.

So, if you are a school teacher of geography and EVS, a school student, or
a parent, this event is a must for you!

We will have workshops, panel discussions, and scholarly paper
presentations.

NGYS-2014 is being organized by a group of energetic, enthusiastic young
undergraduate geographers from the Department of Geography, S P College,
Pune. Also involved in it are professional geographers and other academics.
