Dear List,
first, a quick introduction of myself: I'm a student from Germany, who
has done a little mapping there already. I enjoy OpenStreetMap and I'd
like to contribute back a little.
I am in holidays in Sanremo for about two weeks still and found that the
POI data is rather small. Even the central shopping street[1] barely
lists a shop. I would like to improve that, but I know that OSM
communities in other countries tend to have other conventions, and thus
I'd like to ask for some guidance here before I start surveying and
mapping.
For now, I'd like to know something about bus stops. The ones already
tracked in OSM (which in Sanremo aren't many) only have the city name on
them. This is unfortunate, because these generic names cannot be used in
Liguria's online route planner[2].For instance, [3] only has the name
set to "Sanremo". As even the local transport company's website lists
the station as "Autostazione"[4] this is something I'd like to fix. I'd
set the name of e.g. that bus stop to "Sanremo Autostazione". But as
other bus stops (e.g. [5]) are similaryly tagged with only the city name
I don't know if this is actually correct and I'm just confused about bus
stop naming conventions in Italy/Liguria. So, what's the correct way to
name bus stops?
If someone is interested in a mapping tour with me in Sanremo and/or
nearby areas, please tell me. I don't speak a word Italian, but my
English should be sufficient and I'm certainly interested in getting to
know OSM mappers from other countries!
Marvin
