temo che nel wiki italiano ci siano diverse contraddizioni,
infatti viene indicato l'uso sia di highway=toll_booth che di
barrier=toll_booth.
alcune pagine prese dal wiki inglese:

inoltre dalla pagina delle map features inglese[1] si legge che il tag
highway=toll_booth
è stato sostituito da barrier=toll_booth
