Ieri sulla mailing list inglese è passato questo annuncio che vi traduco 
(spero non troppo male):

Oggi lanciamo una raccolta di fondi per raccogliere le 10mila sterline 
necessarie all'acquisto di un nuovi server Database per il supporto alla 
migrazione alle API 0.6 (la sesta versione).
In particolar modo abbiamo intenzione di acquistare un server rackmount 
3unità, doppio Quadcore, 24Gb di Ram, 10 dischi SAS a 15kRPM.

La crescita esponenziale di OpenStreetMap, sin dal giorno del suo 
lancio,  ha comportato un aumento tale di carico sui server Hardware e 
sul software che questo lavorano incessantemente giorno e notte.
Questo upgrade ci premetterà di trovarci in un'ottima posizione per 
superare il prossimo ostacolo della mappatura dell'intero pianeta.
Abbiamo degli amministratori di sistema e dei programmatori che 
dimostrano un incredibile attaccamento al progetto, permetteteci, quindi 
di offrir loro i migliori stumenti per costruire la mappa più 
dettagliata del nostro pianeta.

Today we’re kicking off a funding drive to raise £10,000 to buy new  
API database servers for the upcoming new API and server software  
which we call “0.6″ as it’s the 6th version. Specifically we’re  
after a 3U Rackmount server, 2x Quadcore, 24GB RAM, 10x SAS 15kRPM  
disks.

OpenStreetMaps exponential growth since day one has led to increasing  
demands on the hardware and software clockwork which make it tick day  
and night, and this funding drive will put us in a fantastic position  
to cross the next hurdles of mapping the planet. We have incredibly  
dedicated volunteer sysadmins and coders building OSM today, so let’s  
give them the best tools for the job to continue building the most  
detailed map of the planet.

in some cash for the cause. We’ll keep you up to date with the
