I fully agree with the above.  Data in OSM that is "invalid" is 
processed by lots of QA tools, which provide input to lots of mappers as 
they survey (though here the problem appears to be quite fixable without 
survey).

Simply deleting that data is tantamount to vandalism - don't do it.
