Dear sirs,

I have just started OSM community in Japan.
But there are several difficulties for enlarging membership
and promote OSM and mapping parties.

That's reason, I tries OSM grants.

An idea is similar your example.

Theme:
Build OSM community in Japan

Plan:
1. Negotiate with Japan government.

Japan government have a plan to open their database like TIGER.
It is a good opportunity but they only knows commercial map enterprises.
It cause their license make incompatible with OSM.
This is challenge to gov to negotiate their data for open community.

2. promoting OSM with mapping party and seminars.

To promote OSM, I need to rent a room for seminar, which will be
needed for party event too,
and GPS units.
It is unhappy situation that especially in Tokyo, the rent room, that
can use net connectivity, is expensive so I need some funds.

3. Promoting OSM for Japanese who cannot recognize English

Most of discrepancies of Japanese is barrier for language. (shame..)
I need to operate web site for Japanese who is interested for it.
To promote, I want to buy servers and keep a connectivity of facilities.

That's my plan. I hope that you are interested in my plan.

Thank you.
