[talk-latam] Hurricane Fiona Response in Dominican Republic

Dear Latin America OpenStreetMap community,

As the listed OSM talk-list on https://openstreetmap.community/ I am
writing to inform you that the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team will be
standing up to map in response to Hurricane Fiona, specifically the impact
in the Dominican Republic. As part of our evaluation and size-up, we
recognize that most of the other impacted islands are quite densely mapped
and therefore any response will be more closely inspected and ideally a
locally led effort. Please email disasterservices at hotosm.org if you need
support for mapping disaster impact in your area.

For the Dominican Republic, we are still searching for local contacts, if
that is you - please reply directly to me (or the email above) as we always
welcome guidance and direction from local mappers as to what is most
needed, and best suited for a crowd mapping response. At the moment, we are
narrowing down the area we believe we can confidently contribute needed
data to, and will publish project(s) on the HOT instance of the OSM Tasking
Manager (tasks.hotosm.org).

As this is an evolving situation, please anticipate updates to the above
pages, but if you have information or otherwise want to stay up-to-date,
feel free to join the #disaster-mapping channel on the HOT Slack (
slack.hotosm.org).
