When Severin and I went there in 2013 we looked hard for any existing OpenStreetMap contributors so we could potentially meet them, and we did find a few; but I think only one ever made it to any of the HOT mapathons. Anyone who is interested in the history (and current updates) of our project, please visit: http://hotosm.org/projects/mongolia_mapping_ulaanbaatar I am not sure how closely our interns or any local Mongolians follow this mailing list, the best way to reach their local community is via this Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/OSM.Mongolia/ or their OSM mailing list: https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-mn It would be great if you could also add some information about the Asia Foundation on the Mongolia OSM wiki-page: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Mongolia We’ll chat more ‘offline’ as well, if nothing else I’m sure some of the HOT interns would be interested to attend your event. You can peek at our Facebook event at https://facebook.com/mapforub and read more about the project goals at http://asiafoundation.org/in-asia/2014/10/15/accurately-mapping-mongolias-sprawling-capital-with-satellite-imagery/ We have seven small task areas with high-res drone imagery, and we're focusing on local contributors; no remote volunteers at this time. I'm looking for help to create a task hosted on an existing Tasking Manager server, rather than us setting up our own server just for the event. Please let me know if you can help with this. Also, if anyone has advice for mapping events, it would be great to hear from you. Please e-mail me off-list, or meet me at State of the Map this weekend.
