Finally, you’ve spoken.  You are one of the few members who are still actively mapping. My salute to you!

 

I knew about that massive upload of data incidence.  I read it from MFM forum.  That’s why every single road that I draw, I’ll back it up with gps traces.  

 

I noticed your work on Penang Island.  Major roads are all there.  For me, I’ll try to map northern Seberang Perai and southern Kedah,  So far, major roads have been mapped – but, compared to what other OSMers have done elsewhere (especially in Europe), we are far behind.  Still in the starting grid phase.

Shoutout from Penang mappers - there are quite a few members in Penang, but only a handful who is actively mapping. Major roads (e.g. Expressway and Primary Highway) in Penang is almost complete, safe for a few exceptions. Minor roads (Residentials, etc.) are limited to a few areas.

OSM in Penang has suffered a serious blow recently as someone imported huge amount of data from elsewhere (most likely MalFreeMap) which isn't compatible with the OSM project. OSM Data Group was notified and hence a 99% of the roads in Seberang Prai had to be remapped.

Anyway, lets talk about OSM. I am “shouting” here to see who’s responding.  The more people responding the better. The OSM mapping standard for Malaysia is not complete. The existing Wikiproject Malaysia page is a good start - but it could be better.  We should have a discussion among us to improve and expand on it.  
 
If one person alone doing it, the standards would be biased and no one would follow (except the creator).  So lets see how it goes.

I'm here. Unfortunately, I haven't been too active editing on OSM. I'm slightly more active on other Malaysian maps editing communities. However, I do still follow OSM MY progress with interest.
