[OSM-np] Help with guide on Routes

Could someone explain possibly SakarP or Prabhas how routes tag work?
I've tried to change / divide roads into subsections but then I see
there are rotues tags and breaking it might cause some issues with the
yatayat app we have afaik.
Could you guys give some tips on how they work, or what are the things
to keep in mind when combining different streets?
