The GPS to go units have a pretty good battery life - they seemed to go for well over 24 hours on one charge. In addition they have a USB charger which can be plugged into the cigarette lighter socket in the car. 

If you're using them with a laptop (linux, tango gps etc), then probably your biggest problem is going to be your laptop battery. In which case I came across a bunch of cheap inverters the other day at CDR-King, which will power any AC 240 volt device in a car. A 100 watt model was about 500 pesos, and a 500 watt version was just over 1000 pesos. Seemed like a good price.
