I concur. I don't see any benefit in having flight paths beyond the end of the runway. And in fact I've also found them confusing in some instances.

Aren't they actually _required_? If we don't have the ferry routes, then all the islands in the Philippines aren't connected by any ways, therefore routing doesn't work. So we actually need them. Seem to remember a previous thread about this.
