Coincidence! I was actually thinking about possible mapping parties
for 2011 earlier this day.
Below is what I came up with. I think we can do a mapping party every
two months: 4 in Metro Manila and 2 out of town.
February: QC Scout Area <http://osm.org/go/4zhTArYA--> (basically the
areas covered by Barangays South Triangle, Sacred Heart, Kamuning,
Laging Handa, Obrero, Paligsahan, and Roxas. This combined area is
slightly larger than the Intramuros Mapping Party area. Why this area?
A colleague of mine mentioned that he noticed the lack of POIs in this
area on the OSMPH Garmin map, and this is a target area of Ian Lopez
(based on one of his wiki pages), and Wayne works in GMANews.TV so he
would be familiar with this area.
April: Corregidor <http://osm.org/go/4zK1EiW>. This was supposed to be
for last year. But let's try again this year. This is a great summer
mapping party destination. :-)
June: Pateros <http://osm.org/go/4zhHgAN_-->. Why not make Metro
Manila's last and smallest municipality the most complete area in
Metro Manila, more complete than even Marikina? ;-)
August: Manila, either Malate-Ermita <http://osm.org/go/4zhFwboB--> or
Binondo (and surrounding areas like Divisoria)
<http://osm.org/go/4zhQOKL7>. Lots of POIs.
October: Bataan <http://osm.org/go/4zLZgY>. Basically like last year's
Cavite but this time in Bataan, and with more emphasis on town centers
since Bataan's road network is mostly complete (I think--correct me if
December: Western San Juan <http://osm.org/go/4zhSEhfV--> (basically
San Juan minus Barangays West Crame and Greenhills). This is one of
the most confusing areas in Metro Manila with its numerous one ways
and a lack of grid streets but is where drivers know shortcuts to
avoid traffic in the major Metro Manila thoroughfares.
Other people can give suggestions of course. :-D
