Hello everybody,
http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/culturebox/2012/01/the_best_american_wall_map_david_imus_the_essential_geography_of_the_united_states_of_america_.html
The link above points to a relatively old (January 2012) article from Slate
and it's not about the Philippines, but I'd like to share it because we all
love maps, and I guess many of us appreciate a really well-done map.
In the age of Google Maps and navigation mobile apps where we present
geographical data in a completely automated manner, the human art of
cartography is becoming a rare skill. The Imus map of the United States was
created in a span of 2 years and every detail was decided by David Imus.
Even if he created his map using Adobe Illustrator, I dare say that the map
is truly hand-crafted. His map won 2010's best map in the Cartography and
Geographic Information Society's annual awards, beating out maps from the
likes of the National Geographic and Rand McNally.
I hope we can be inspired. And maybe one of us can create "The Greatest
Paper Map of the Philippines". :-)
~Eugene
