Greeting OSM mebers and Jeff,
I would gladly help you but I'm located on the western part of the island. Some of the edits I made in the metro area and southern area are because I know for sure what is in that area. Other than that, you're in a better position than me in that area. 
A little about me...
I'm currently a Biology student in the University of Puerto Rico that also likes to make contributions to OSM. Unfortunately, I have no experience with GIS but I can help in OSM with edits. For now, I won't disclose my name due to all the govt scandals about privacy.
As for the language, don't worry to much. Nos podemos comunicar en ambos idiomas. 
I look forward for the mapping party...
