In the wake of hurricanes Irma and Maria, the geospatial community
responded to many unique challenges in the Caribbean area – challenges that
came out of the specific environments in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin
Islands and from the scope of the damage done by these major hurricanes.
FEMA is hosting *CADGeoCon 2019*, a two-day conference to promote better
understanding of what those challenges were, how they have been responded
to, and what best-practices have resulted now and will be results in the
future.  This conference is a way to share the stories of our geospatial
challenges and lessons among the geospatial practitioners in the US
Caribbean area, with the goal of preparing our communities to respond to
future disasters better and with more speed.



*Como resultado de los huracanes Irma y María, la comunidad geoespacial
respondió a muchos retos únicos en el área del Caribe. Retos que surgieron
de situaciones particulares en Puerto Rico e Islas Vírgenes y de la
magnitud de los daños generados por estos sistemas tropicales
catastróficos. FEMA servirá como anfitrión del CADGeoCon 2019. Una
conferencia de dos días, para promover un mejor entendimiento de los retos,
cómo se atendieron, mejores prácticas que han sido efectivas hasta el
presente y las que darán frutos en el futuro. Esta conferencia busca
compartir las historias de nuestros retos geoespaciales y lecciones
aprendidas entre los usuarios de los Sistemas de Información Geoespacial
(SIG), en los territorios de los EE.UU. en el Caribe. El propósito es que
nuestra comunidad geoespacial esté mejor preparada para eventos futuros y
atenderlos de forma eficiente y rápida.*

*SOLICITUD PARA ESCRITOS Y PRESENTACIONES*



We want your experiences!  Presentations will be either 30 minutes (20
minutes for speaking, 10 minutes for questions) or 60 minutes

(45 minutes to present, 15 minutes for questions).  Papers should be
related to response, recovery, a topic that affected response or recovery,
or a geospatial use of data that resulted from the hurricanes.  In
addition, we are looking for posters of projects to display throughout the
conference.



*¡Queremos conocer de sus experiencias! Las presentaciones serán de 30
minutos (20 para hablar y 10 minutos para preguntas) o 60 minutos (45 para
presentar y 15 para preguntas). Los trabajos escritos deben estar
relacionados a la respuesta, recuperación, algún tema que afecte la
respuesta y recuperación o algún uso de información geoespacial generada de
los sistemas tropicales. Por otra parte, buscamos afiches de proyectos que
puedan colocarse alrededor del salón de conferencias.*



Submit a one-page abstract of your proposed presentation (in English or in
Spanish), whether your presentation will be 30 or 60 minutes or a poster,
along with your name, your company/agency/school affiliation, and your
email by December 15, 2018 to:

has been accepted. We hope to have a wide variety of presenters and topics,
so we have a full two days!
