If everybody agree I think the correct tagging is :
ref=A1 (for motorway)
ref=IP5 (for "itinerario principal")
ref=IC31 (for "itinerario complementario")
ref=EN329 (for "estradas nacionais")
etc...
The example :
ref=N2 *incorrect* (need to start with EN)
ref=EN 329 *incorrect* (no space needed)
I will correct the Portuguese wiki, the first paragraph describing the ref tag
need clarification (describing the format).
