Hi,
I'm working on a project and it occurred to me it could be counted as
import. I got interested in Zapis some time ago ( sacred tree in
Serbia [1], [2] ). I found there is a team here in Serbia trying to
identify trees. One of their projects was done with Wikimedia Serbia -
local Wikipedia organisation [3]. I reached out to the author and got
permission to use data for mapping inside OSM.
I created a project page [4] and discussed the project locally. My
intention is to go manually over the provided dataset, compare data (
location, description, images ) with current state and satellite
imagery and add trees in OSM. Initially only ones with wikipedia /
wikidata would be added / updated, around 600 trees. I would apply
standard tagging for trees with addition of zapis=yes. Some of the
trees are protected by the government and already in OSM.
I would appreciate any feedback and let me know if more information is needed.
Best,
Vanja
