Subject: [Talk-so] Unite Maps - Topographic data editing

Dear OSM Somalia community,
Unite Maps Initiative<https://geoportal.dfs.un.org/arcgis/apps/sites/#/unitemaps>, as Organised Editing Activity<https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Organised_Editing/Activities>, is going to edit OpenStreetMap<https://www.openstreetmap.org/> adding topographic features in Somalia including:
- Highways
- Waterways
- Landcover + landuse
- Places
- Any other relevant point of interest

In particular, we will focus in the areas showed HERE<https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/File:UniteMaps_AOI_Somalia.png>. The editing activity will last until the end of June 2021. Some areas are located in Uganda.

The editing is perfomed both with an internal capacity of mappers based at the United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC)<https://www.ungsc.org/>, and with crowdsourcing activities of a thriving community of mappers, the UN Mappers<https://bit.ly/UNMappers>. You can contribute to our Tasking Manager projects HERE<https://tasks.hotosm.org/explore?organisation=UN%20Mappers>.

In particular, we have opened a project in Somalia: https://tasks.hotosm.org/projects/9310
