Hi Alan,

The treeless images that were in bing were sourced from MassGIS.
ArcGIS.com hosts many MassGIS data sets as tiles. You can see them
here.

To get the treeless tiles back, add this to your image preferences in JOSM.

tms:http://tiles3.arcgis.com/tiles/hGdibHYSPO59RG1h/arcgis/rest/services/USGS_Orthos_2013_2014/MapServer/tile/{zoom}/{y}/{x}

Substitute USGS_Orthos_2013_2014 with any of the layer names listed at
this page to use other layers.

MassGIS just purchased very new images for the state from google.
Google has restricted its use and we can't use them from JOSM, but It
looks like viewing the images in Oliver is ok.
