[Talk-us-massachusetts] MassGIS address import workflow

Hi Folks,
I wrote the python code for the 2nd building import and code for an
automated edit to remove area=yes on the 1st building import around Boston.
I have concerns about the workflow for the address import. We have 2.8
million households in the commonwealth. It is a lot of data. In order to
pull this off statewide, we need to write a script that automates the
conversion from the raw MassGIS data all the way to an OSM .osc file.
Automating the conversion process will allow it to be run repeatably to
support several QA cycle. The script should write out many QA files per
town. For example, addresses that match an existing building 1:1, address
that doesn't match any nearby roads, multiple addresses over a single
building, addresses that are already in OSM, addresses that are already in
OSM but are far away, addresses over undeveloped land, etc. As a group, we
can pick through the output and either adjust the script or fix the OSM
data. I am sure that if we match the MassGIS address to OSM, we will find
missing roads, roads with incorrect names, and incorrect address data in
the existing database. On the other side, it usually takes a bunch of time
working with the MassGIS data to really understand how to import it to OSM.
Yury, since you are driving this what do you think?
Jason
