[Talk-us-massachusetts] Something is wrong with roadway widths

I was doing some edits in my town with turn lanes, and enabled the plugins on the useful Mapbox guide here: https://www.mapbox.com/mapping/mapping-for-navigation/adding-turn-lanes/

What I discovered, however, is that roadways seem to have invalid width amounts on them from whatever import did them.

It would seem this segment of roadway with the exorbitant width is labeled width=18.3 on that side of the road. The key:width tag describes that no units provided is interpreted as meters, however an 18.3 meter wide roadway would be 60 feet wide! And this separated lane is certainly not 60 feet wide.

I played around with values until I figured out that the proper value for this segment would be width=6m.

It appears the width values were imported as feet units, but were not appended with imperial symbols to designate so. The lane rendering plugin on JOSM won't render width values with imperial symbols, which isn't an issue on the OSM data side, but does preclude using it to diagnose and fix these issues reliably.

I think these should be fixed. In cases where roadway directions are split, the width= value should be divided by half, and appended with a "'" symbol to indicate feet, OR converted to metric. If the segment is both directions together, either add the "'" symbol, or convert to metric.
