Some of you may have seen a reference to Strava heat maps in the news.
Check it out. You get very interesting information about the use of
trails. You can select usage for type of activity, like running, biking,
or winter activities. (NB The type of activity is chosen by the user, and
they can choose incorrectly.)
For example, I was wondering who cut a new snowmobile path, and thanks for
their fitbit (or Garmin), I was able to trace the user of that trail
directly to his house. (He neglected to create a privacy radius on his
Strava account).
But otherwise, it is very useful to see the usage patterns of trails.
Check it out and report any surprises. I'm seeing suspected snowmobile
riding on trails not designated as such. But one needs to authenticate on
the ground, since someone could have incorrectly recorded their activity
type.
