I'm trying for a proper overlay for Lynn Woods, roping in the real woods
from imagery. Because the administrative boundary so closely matches the
line of the woods in many places, I'm taking its components as "outers" for
the "lwb" overlay relationship (temporary name so I can find it). I'm adding
additional contiguous regions of woods, either drawn in or tacked onto the
relationship because they were already there. It's looking pretty correct
in edit mode, but the thing that's really kicking my ass is the golf course
at the east edge.
It is apparently really part of, within, the Lynn Woods area. It shares a
way with the existing Lynn Woods protected_area. The two ways making up the
LW administrative boundary look properly connected and all, but the editor is
giving me a warning about an un-closed area. When I chase the warning, it
lands me looking at the point in the middle of
https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=19/42.48771/-70.96642
where the golf course boundary takes off from the Lynn Woods admin boundary.
So I'm trying to carve the golf course and Breed's Pond out of the woods
relationship, and iD is drawing a "ghost line" right across the endpoints
of the smaller shared way with the golf course and the Lynn Woods boundary.
Can an "inner" set of ways be snugged right up against an "outer", sharing
points with the perimeter, or does it have to be 100% detached? The point
in question is a "tee" of three lines, and I've confirmed that it's a single
point connecting all three.
I don't want to mess with break up existing objects or try crocking in klunky
new ways right next to other ones, so I need help figuring this out. And by
that I mean actual *instruction* on how to fix it right, not just having my
work to date nuked please.
The default renderer is still way out of date on this whole area, so we can't
really tell anything visually from that.
