Just to get you excited?   I also noticed a 2008 folder at
ftp2.census.gov/geo/tiger<http://ftp2.census.gov/geo/tiger/TIGER2007FE/41_OREGON/41055_Sherman/fe_2007_41055_edges.zip>/
BUT it isn't readable yet :/  No idea when it will be either.
