Thanks, I thought there was something already tailored for the NHD
data, that was what I was looking for.  I put the link on the wiki
page.
I checked the link to the NHD files, and they are all in .mdb access
data files (personal geodatabase).  What is everyone using to get them
into shape files?  org2ogr?  Directly to shp, or thru postgreSQL?
I found this command line to try out:
ogr2ogr -f "ESRI Shapefile" [output dir] [data].mdb
using the latest FWTools2.4.2 a 500mb .mdb turns into 140mb of .shp
files and most seem empty.  Suggestions on what I am doing wrong??
