[Talk-us] NHD imports: looking for helpful hints/guidelines

so i have obtained data for a number of subbasins in the hudson valley, 
and Ian Dee's jar file
that converts shape files to osm files, have successfully converted some 
area, flowline, and
waterbody shapefiles into .osm files, and loaded them up in josm and 
looked them over.

does anyone have any suggestions on how to manage importing this data? 
i'm looking
for a process/organizational approach to the problem.
