I also do some work on open-source software projects.  When you add new
code, you at least make it _consistent_ with what's there before.
Barring that, you just end up with everyone's different personal styles
and no one can make sense of it.

Same goes for the ref tags.  The way it is now, the map just looks
goofy.  Roads are changing names from the casual users's perspective:
