https://tools.usps.com/go/ZipLookupResultsAction!input.action?resultMode=0&companyName=&address1=My_number+My_direction+My_street_name+My_street_type&address2=My_other_optional_stuff&city=My_state&state=My_state_code&urbanCode=&postalCode=&zip=

That's the minimal url. This interface is more for casual use.

I don't have a link but USPS have another method for sending up to five
addresses per transaction. They target this interface for smaller batches
for small mailings such as 250 addresses a day.

They'd like you to use another paid for service for larger transactions.

There are some JOSM plugins that would be worthy of adding the five address
transaction method to.

What do people think about this? Is it a reasonable idea? Does it violate
some rules that I am not aware of?

Watch out for large buildings because you will receive multiple addresses
back. The zipcode are by floor and not by building.
