Apologies, Ian.  I did mention that my VERY brief digression into state sovereignty was recognizably "not on a political forum" and intentionally brought the topic back to "OSM and tagging standards."

The intent was to clarify that states (New York, California...) do designate wilderness areas, and that we can tag similarly (to how nation-states do so) with "states" as we know them in the USA.  And I think I, Kenny and the list largely got there.
