What is the recommended ref and name for USFS roads?
This was brought up on this list last year.
https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-us/2020-June/020113.html
I don't think it was brought to a close

It was brought up on the tag list 2 years ago
https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/tagging/2019-August/047455.html

Rob S is under the impression that the consensus from the tag list
discussion is that the tagging should be:
ref:usfs=FS xxx .

I'm good with that, & if that's what others agree to, then I'll change
the wiki.

Currently the wiki doesn't mention ref:usfs, and says to use

NF xx (for those roads with a /Distinctive Route Marker/)

FR xx (for any other National Forest System Road)

I did some tag filtering US wide & it looks like NF is used the most.
Nationwide FS & FR are both used roughly the same (but some of those are
Fort Stewart, not Forest Service), in the west FR is used about twice as
much.   In Colorado, due to Rob's prolific work, the majority may be
tagged as ref:usfs=FS xxx

On the USFS maps that I pulled up, they just put the number, there is no
NF/FS/FR.

Probably another hopeless, never ending discussion.
