Hi Jacob,

   This sounds like a great project - consider also bringing in 
addresses at the same time.   It's more work but if you're comfortable 
with JOSM and ArcGIS, they can help with removing duplicates of both 
addresses and buildings.   There are some other external scripts that 
people have used, but I don't know which are the best.
