Simon, I think that sounds a bit conspiracy-like when you say "forceably
moved to Slack". When a new communication system was created and offered to
the community, the vast majority of people chose to use it for
communication for one simple reason - convenience. No one "forced" me to
use it - I dislike email discussions due to low participation (same few
people tend to be the only ones emailing), and how unproductive it tends to
be.

P.S. Slack clearly goes beyond USA -- #local-canada (50 users),
#local-africa (55),  #australia (31), and many other channels.
