Hello all,

It is a very good thing to show how the web editor works but for imports
I strongly recommend JOSM(Java OpenStreetMap editor). I cannot say it
enough that iD is only good for smaller edits where you don't have to
pull data from other sources but you just put it there manually. Or at
least I don't like using it above 30-40+ edits per changeset since it
starts to get laggy for me. iD doesn't support file loading so
definitely JOSM is a must to have for importing.

JOSM supports geojson, csv, xml, kmz files, basically all kinds of
formats that are used in GIS.

JOSM has a great feature that you can select multiple elements with a
key combination and you can search for specific tags with the searcher,
I don't know if iD has any of these traits, maybe yes but JOSM is more
robust, even if it has a learning curve. (it takes a few weeks but after
that you're master in it)

Also as Mateusz mentioned before, OSMUS Slack has #imports, and
#local-oklahoma-arkansas channel where the details can be discussed.
That's the local buy-in that people support your project, and it's a
crucial step, because it may happen that some people import data
carelessly, without discussing the community, and the result is mostly a
disaster.

I hope this helps a bit.

Attila
