Hi Folks,

I wanted to send a special appeal because I know not everyone reads these
newsletter updates.

Three of the five members of the board are term-limited this year (max of
two 2-year terms). That means three newly-elected members will join Adam
Franco and me on the board and there will be *NO* incumbents running in
this election.

Serving on the board has a generally low time commitment, generally as
little as one hour per month. We have a full-time executive director and a
paid staff. The board's job is to advise the staff and ensure that the
organization moves in the right direction. Maggie and the staff do this for
a living - they eat, sleep, and breathe OSM daily and are good at their
jobs. They're familiar with the players and politics, understand the
board's concerns, and it's generally rare for the board to intervene in the
day-to-day operations.

Bottom line: you can do this, and it won't take much of your time. If
you're active in OSM, please consider running for the board and offering
your input on what our local chapter is and what it does. The most
important thing you can bring to the table is a fresh and new perspective.
