[Openstreetmap] Hello, introduction

Hi

I'm new to this list. 

When I got my GPS and looked for free data (and didn't find any) I
thought about starting a project like yours to generate CC licenced
maps.

I live in Griesheim/Germany (about 30km south of Frankfurt/Main).

I started to collect my GPS tracks in August 2003 using a Garmin geko
301 and GPSman. Currently I have about 8MB raw track data (in GPSman
ascii format). 4MB are already split down to named/identified road
segments.

Most of the data is from the Rhein/Main region with some german highway
data in the area West-Saarland, East-Berlin, South-Karlsruhe, North-Sylt
and some street data from those destinations.

I'm still looking for a better map editor (I'm using GPSman with
background images to identify the streets and vim to edit/split the
track data) and some way to automaticly combine identified track
segments.
