Hello everyone,
Further to my message last night I can now load Landsat data into my GPX
editor. There's a demo, of the Southampton Water area, available here:
http://www.free-map.org.uk/downloads/landsat_demo.png
There must be, however, some sort of projection issue. The coastal path is
slightly in the water! The tracks were surveyed with a Garmin GPS while the
Landsat data is from the NASA server, so at a guess, the Garmin is programmed
to use the UK projection while the NASA server the standard worldwide
projection?
BTW on the subject of an editor, I can see a use for two variants with two
slightly different user bases:
- a heavier-weight client-server app for live OpenStreetMap editing, based on
Steve's applet (I have done some work on this this week)
- a lightweight app specialised for GPX editing and integration of Landsat
data for estimation of woods and lakes (my C++ app, from which the screenshot
is taken).
