i, er, i do hope this is all right. i burbled on at the guy on the phone
about all sorts of things geo. people seem generally very interested in
crown copyright and public information copyright in general.
We're in a position to purchase decent satellite data now; we have
pledges of 1000UKP for london and of up to 500 for bristol, which
frustratingly, carterra doesn't seem to have a good image of.
I would like to consider other options than just plonking this on
ikonos, though this would seem to be a productive course. Is plugging
in to amateur aerial photography sources really feasible? Could anyone
suggest somebody we can contact about this?
It would be good to have extra funding resources to e.g. defray for
richard some of the expense of producing the new popular edition
scan... i have not had time to experiment with my copy yet :/ and some
of the london sheets appeared to have pretty worn out originals.
But they definitely could be susceptible to the GA based feature
extraction approach, and it will be interesting with gps traces to
compare their fit to 'reality'...
