personly i'd also prefer some OSI approved licence
(http://www.opensource.org/licenses/index.php),
but those refer all to OS software, not data.
(ex. also the "GNU Free Documentation License" isn't listed there)
if you look at http://www.debian.org/intro/free or
http://www.debian.org/social_contract , they also refer to software
licences most of the time, not general licences
beside CC and GDL i didn't find any free licence that covers data,
and CC is the only one that's adapted to local laws for most countries.
