/agree with all this

I shouldn't have said it was a space issue, because it isn't, but it
does slow the applet down (its the slowest thing in it) grabbing points
that people may be layering on top of other peoples tracks continually

instead of expiring them entirely, we can make it that the server won't
give them to the applet any more, but they can still be got from a
webpage, or something
