Sorry I missed the original request for a response from the Birmingham
contingent on this!
Personally I don't see the need to up the points limit. The majority of my
mapping like Alex's is done with 1 sec interval track points so we get a
swathe of yellow up close when editing. Yes it means there is not much track
to see when zoomed out (just the most recent segment) but that's irrelevant
when editing has to be done close in anyway for urban areas.
I still think we should be aiming, like Alex says, at having at least some
filtering or selection basis on track points. Otherwise the problem is only
going to get worse.
Just out of interest, what map scale are others editing at? I'm generally at
1.4e-05 for the residential streets and perhaps 2e-05 for the distance
routes. I guess perhaps with the greater node "snap" capability some are
editing farther out?, in which case the amount of points rendered may become
an issue.
